Boating Safety & Seamanship Class
An 11-week class, Tuesday Nights
Location - Loch Lomond Yacht Club - San Rafael 95 Loch Lomond Way, off Point San Pedro Road
Time - 7:30- 9:30 PM
Registration Fee - $85.00 (includes book/chart)

Sonoma contact Herb Golenpaul 707-996-5964 for information on the next class. The fee of $85 covers a text, workbook and a
copy of the SF Bay chart. All classes are taught by well-qualified and
experienced USCG Auxiliary members. Graduates receive certificates, which
may reduce the cost of boat insurance!
Class content includes:
"Rules of the Road," choosing a boat, buoys & markers, plotting a dead
reckoning course on a chart, tide book usage, marine radio, boat terminology, legal requirements, trailering, boat handling, aids to navigation, inland boating, trip planning, knots and lines (marlinspike), weather and basic navigation. In
other words - everything you need to know for safe
boating.

Advanced Coastal Navigation
An 11-week class, Tuesday Nights (once per week)
Location - Loch Lomond Yacht Club - San Rafael 95 Loch Lomond Way, off Point San Pedro Road
Time - 7:30-9:30 PM
Registration Fee - $125.00 (includes book) provides experienced and
qualified volunteer USCG instructors, a text and practice
chart. Prerequisites are : USCG Auxiliary classes:
"Boating Skills & Seamanship" or "Sailing & Seamanship" or
the USPS course equivalent; or a demonstrable knowledge of
charts, tide books and dead reckoning. For inquiries

SAR Specialty Course
(AUXSAR)
An
AUXSAR Specialist is well qualified in search and rescue and a
genuine asset to the Auxiliary operations activities. The AUXSAR
training is designed to present a thorough understanding of the
policy, organization, and procedures involved in the search and
rescue process as generally practiced by the U. S. Coast Guard. The
AUXSAR Specialist is aware of the overall structure of the search
and rescue organization, is able to plan search operations, and has
an understanding of towing principles, towline properties, and
recognition of the effects of sea state, to ensure a safe and
successful search and rescue.

Weekend Navigator Course
A 10-week class, Tuesday Nights (once per week)
Location - Loch Lomond Yacht Club - San Rafael 95 Loch Lomond Way, off Point San Pedro Road
Time - 7:30-9:30 PM
The U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary’s Weekend Navigation Course is a comprehensive
course designed for both experienced and novice
powerboat and sailboat operators. The course is divided
into two major parts designed to educate the boating
enthusiast in skills required for a safe voyage on a
variety of waters and boating conditions. This
course includes instruction of the use of charts,
navigation tools and the planning required to navigate
safely. The Registration Fee of $125.00 includes
the book, experienced and qualified volunteer USCG
